93 Newmar problem starting

I turn on the key and the gauges come on but transmission console does not light and the starter will not engauge. Batteries checked and are fine. Once I noted the transmisson console light up but then faded out. Suspect a relay or soliniod problem but don't know where to look. Have checked ignition switch and it is ok. It is a Newmar 34D. Please help. I'd take it in for repair but they are miles away and it will not start.

Hi kenjolley,
Welcome to iRV2. On the iRV2 main page, scroll down to the Owner's Corner. In that section, you'll find a forum dedicated to Newmar coaches. Consider reposting this question there. There is a large group of Newmar owners on iRV2.

The only help I can offer is to check all ground connections. This is because of the fading lights you are seeing.

Welcome kenjolly to the Newmar forum and irv2.
What is your coach, usually 4 #'s and is it a Ford chassis or DP?
I had same problem on my Workhorse chassis and found a 5 amp fuse on solenoid the a female spade clip had fallen off the other half of fuse. Your 93 may not have the same charging circuit as my new coach but you may have same fuse because it also had something to do with the battery cut off switch for when you put coach in winter storage.

New battery charging system

On the left side of solenoid the 5 amp fuse holder is attached with wire and spade clip connector. This wire once placed back on fuse in holder solved my problem.
If it turns out to be the starter solenoid on starter maybe you can use this new solenoid for a replacement.
