It Would help if we knew if it was a DP or a gasser. engine, and chassis for starters.

Was anything working initially? Did they fail all at one time or over time?

Hi mdolp1973,

Welcome to iRV2. Until the information allynne posted is available there are some basics you can try. I do not know the 96 MountainAire. There are some basics that Newmar has done for quite sometime. And if you answer some of these questions maybe we can help you quickly.

brake lights or turn signal - Automotive fuses might be found in the first basement compartment on the street side of the coach. Also there are a few fuses in the electrical bay. These fuses will be hidden behind a panel held on with screws or velcro.

lost one of the roof air condintioners - Totally dead or does the fan work?

then the thermostat - Can you tell us the brand/model or how many buttons are on the thermostat

LP sensor, the carbon mono sensor - These need to be replaced every 5 years or so. Are they battery operated or receive power from the 12 VDC coach system? If the power source is the 12 VDC coach system, check for power to the sensor before replacing.

the stairs wont retract anymore - Look at the mechanical first. Disconnect the steps from the motor. Lube all the joints. Make sure there are no binds. While disconnected, connect a 12 VDC source to the step motor. Does the motor work? If no, the motor is the problem. If yes and there were no binds in the steps, the problem may be in the control board or the sensor in the door. Check the control board wires for power to the motor when the ignition switch is in the "on" position. The steps should always be retracted when the ignition switch is in the "on" position and the door is closed. The steps should always be in the extended position when the door is open. I ask to have the steps disconnected from the motor to ensure the steps do not move when you are checking for the defect. The steps move quickly and are powerful. They can hurt you.

no heat - Do you have a Suburban furnace? Does the fan come on? Does the burner light, even for a few seconds? There are fuses inside the furnace. Take to cover off. You'll need to determine where the fuses are located, but they are there. Do you have propane and is the valve open and the system pressurized with propane?

Check the coach and chassis batteries. Are the cells covered with water? Is the fully charged static voltage reading (no charging and no load) at least 12.5 VDC? Many of the items mentioned required your coach batteries to power them.

Check the engine battery (s). 12.6 VDC is full charged. 12.0 VDC is 50% discharged. About 11.5 VDC is fully discharged. Under 12.0 VDC the batteries do not power very much.

The coach should have a breaker panel for the 120 VAC power circuits. Next to the breaker panel might be a 12 VDC fuse buss.

Lastly, ground wires are very important. Check all the ground wires you can find. Start at the coach and engine battery(s). Make sure the ground wires to the chassis are clean and tight.

This thread maybe of interest to you.
Under your you will have fuse panels for many of your funtions that are not working.
You may also have a fuse for LP detector in coil of wires in front of fire wall drivers side with a 1 amp fuse holder.
