Back in the Dutch Stars of our vintage , Newmar used the name plate on gas and diesel Class As; and in the diesel models they built on both Freightliner and Spartan chassis , with Cat or Cummins power. So a little more info on your unit could help other members who may have had issues, describe them to you.
For my own unit , described in my signature line , no issues but maintenance, for the first 7 years , up till this year when I had to replace the original water heater.

Sorry I missed reading, the heading, in your original post .
The only real issue I've had with the Newmar, build on my unit is figuring out the location of all the 12 volt circuit fuses, currently have 10 locations and I'm not sure if I've found them all.
That's 4 locations for chassis fuses and 6 for the coach systems.
As you get to know your coach , keep notes on where you find any fuses the info could be handy later.

You have what I think are the best products out there. Newmar, Cummins, Spartan and Allison. Enjoy the travels.

I agree with Tom Chelbana- Newmar, Spartan, Cummins. The biggest concern for us was the CAPS fuel system. This can be a expensive problem, but it is fixable and then very reliable. Do a search on CAPS failures.
As long as the coach has been maintained and you like the floor plan go for it.

WE've had two DSDP's, a 2000 3865 and 2002 4090. Both were great rigs, and the '02 was even better after Newmar had Spartan replace the OEM 12,000# front axle with a 14,600# unit due to overloading.
Check you weights, some of the '98's and '99 were overloaded and there was a recall on them for new larger front tires.

We had a DSDP 3884, Spartan chassis and 300 Hp Cummins ISC engine. It was a good coach and had enough power to tackle the Rocky Mtns. Only complaint I had was the weak exhaust/transmission brake on steep downgrades. Make sure you are in a lower gear at the top of the hill before you start the downgrade and watch your speed. I had a trucker friend that always said that whatever the lowest gear you use going up to use the same or one lower gear yet on the downgrade and you will always be safe.
