Our new awning retracted one time with high winds but now just bounces up and down. Tried air blower on sensor but no result. A&E will not send new sensor anyone able to fix their wind sensor?

Also our awning does not fully extend(slight angle in arms) and not sure the water shed will work(have not tested it yet). Read that if you have the 815 model(which ours is) it should be changed to the 845 model(which is deeper 95" and different cloth). Any comments? Thanks, Dave

You might try checking the switch on the A&E control box that disables the wind switch. On our last coach it was in the rear of the control box in the storage bay and you could not easily see the switch. I had something hit it in the bay and turn it off one time.

I have never seen my retract. My dealer tested the sensor and set it to the most sensitive setting...sustained wind for 15 seconds. Seems like a long time. Next time going with Girard. Dometic will not talk with the customer. Camping World will provide warranty service the awning.

On my 2004 Bus I've never seen my A&E awning retract automatically either. The dealer tested it with the air hose and it did work but I don't see it as a practical application. My 2007 Bus has the same awning. It's a decent awning but just not a very good wind sensor.

For one thing, it does not sense wind speed. It senses a temperature drop in the wind. Theoretically the temperature will drop as the wind speed increases and the sensor is supposedly calibrated for this. I also have to turn my sensor switch off when parking it in winter because it'll beep error messages at me because it's too cold.

I prefer the Carefree awning myself. They work on a awning arm switch. If the wind causes the awning to lift or bounce, it'll retract. It'll also auyto-stop if you extend (or retract) and it hits anything. A much better system in my opinion.

Then again, Girard is the ultimate awning but it's priced at a higher level also.
