A/C help

Howdy folks, I have a 2007 Newmar Cypress 5th Wheel. I have a Dometic Mod# 59516 15K BTU unit on the roof that has to be replaced. The problem is that the replacement unit #B59516 has a different outlet for the ducting. Does anyone have knowledge of just what has to be changed in the ducting on the roof to get this new unit to work? And just how extensive of a job is it going to be????

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

The Brisk II (#B59516) will NOT work with most Newmar Coaches. Air discharge is now in the center versus the original side/rear discharge. Modifications will need to be made in order to vent for ducting.

Call Newmar and see what they suggest.

Looks like major duct and roof mods will be required. Maybe someone here has already done this and can assist.

Good Luck!

Here is a document from Newmar showing the new plenum. It says the new universal plenum can be added to any coach, but I suspect you already have it, see my post below.

Here is a post from someone else who was in your situation in April 2015.

Your fifth wheel is a 2007. It probably already has the universal plenum. Here's mine, if it looks like this the Brisk Air II should fit, the Penguin (I and II) fits this one and it has a center outlet too:

Top of the pic is the front of the coach.

Check for compatible upper unit replacements. THey may or may not be "Dometics" IN my case I had to replace a Carrier Air V which is no longer made.> But we found two other makes that fit on top of the same ducting unit and could be electrically adapted.. one of them sits there now.

Alas.. I do not know what upper units might replace your Dometic. +

A/C help repaired!!

I want to thank everyone for the replies and helpful advice. I removed the old unit today and found it already has the universal plenum installed. (thanks Newmar) Just have to remove the foam chamber divider from the old unit and install (glue) it on the new one! Problem solved, and should be able to install it tomorrow. COOL! literally!
