A/C stopped
In camp last weekend the front roof AC quit abruptly. The fan will still work. I assume the compressor seized. Can it be repaired / replaced? Since it is about 12 years old should I just replace it? Thanks!

I doubt if replacing a compressor would make money sense. All the other parts would still be 12 years old. Have you tried it since the shut down? It might have just shut down from heavy use. It also could be just a component in the starting or control circuits. A new one might be cheaper than trying to repair an older unit. They aren't hard to replace once you get it up on the roof.

I am having the same thoughts. My dealer quoted $880 + $45 for a kit to connect to my existing control + about an hour labor. It is a low profile Penguin. I am going out now and see if it will start. Thanks!

Good suggestion. It took off and is cooling. I think I will take the cover off and see if it needs cleaning. Many Thanks.

That is a common problem (Cleaning) you remove the outer cover, then remove both condenser and evaporator inner covers.. And you will likely find a mess, epically on the condenser coils. Clean well.

If you have to change AC you need this.
If you need to clean check this out.
Control would be for 4 button control should be interchangeable from old to new AC.
