I can't locate the place in Indiana that has the acrylic replacement handles. The place dealt in surplus items. I have a friend that has one badly cracked and it needs replacement.

I bought one about two years ago and it works super. No cracks (no letters either).

I understand from others on this forum, that the handles with the letters on them tend to crack prematurely.

Anyone found these handles lately? It's the curved ones.

Thanks,

Max,
Try RV Surplus.com.
#5500L is $20.00.

Mine fit well with a little filing on one end. (do not wax or polish. It breaks the product down...)

Max: Just replaced my handle last week from RV Surplus. They are located at 1400 W. Bristol St in Elkhart. Info above is correct but you have to add shipping. My total bill to SC was $35.00. Grind a little at ea end and it looks great, and fits more solid, maby even looks better than with the name on the handle.

We had the Lettered clear lighted handle until it broke 2 years ago. We ordered a new one and the mounting bracket came with it and didn't match up to the existing holes. The handle wouldn't fit the old brackets. We returned it and had a hollow stainless steel handle made to fit. Worked out great and don't have to worry about landing on my back again. Doesn't light up but so what.

Does the 5500L replacement fit the original install brackets from the factory? Ours now is the original handle with the name in it and is beginning to crack real bad.

All I had to do to mine ( 04 DSDP ) was to flatten the ends to fit the bracket. Pretty simple.

Steve--,

It fits the original mounts perfectly. Just like mercerc44 said, A little filing, or grinding, on the ends and your good to go - -

Ditto, you can also tint the upper end with a colored marker or fingernail polish before you put it in if you wanted a different colored tone-glow.

Hey Max and bdaball thanks for the tips. I'll have to get one on order or maybe on the way back up North just stop and pick one up. Decisions, decisions!!!
