Acrylic Shower Door Cleaning Ideas

on my current, and previous coaches, i have had the clear acrylic, sliding shower doors. before i ever used the shower, i put on a couple of coats of waterless wash and wax, to help slow down the inevitable hard water spotting / soap scum residue that builds up.

when i shower, i rinse them down before i finish the shower. my family is less than religious in this practice.....so...they get looking quite grimy....

washing with more waterless wash and wax helps, but does not take it all off....

what are some of the methods that members here have used to clean them without damage ?

Doesn't your Dutch Star have glass doors??? My 2016 has glass and I use Bon Ami. Guaranteed to not scratch.

Wipes the scum right off...

Friends told us about it... We found it to be very effective.

If they’re glass, once you get them cleaned, apply a sealer such as Rain-X.

All our residential showers had this type of treatment applied; although it was called something fancy so they could charge more. ;-(

I start with soft water, after showering we rinse the doors and sides, and dry them. We do that at home too and once a week we use vinegar and water spotless.

We use a squeegee after we shower. It helps, but at some point, you have to do a thorough cleaning. With our roof and shower design, there is a dead spot above the shower head where we store squeegee out of sight. Now that I got rid of that stupid rain head shower, it's easy to access.

What's the difference between this and the similar Thetford cleaner in the gray bottle...and, at half the price?

Dutch Star showers are tempered glass. I have the corner radius shower also. One of my glass panes exploded in the middle of the night. Heard that it is not uncommon for tempered glass to do that. The glass is only 1/8".

Try vinegar and Dawn dish soap.

I keep a synthetic chamois on the handicap assist handle in the shower and rinse and wipe the doors and fixtures after use. Takes less than a minute and glass still looks like new after 3 years.

Seems strange if you do not have a glass door on your shower. I could see someone thinking they are acrylic. I rinse the glass shower doors on my 2016 DS after each shower and then squeegee them using a One Pass brand water blade that I purchased on Amazon. This increases the interval of required cleaning. For cleaning as others have mentioned, you cannot beat the ease of the Mr. Clean Magic eraser which I have used for years. There are a number of varities of the eraser-the best is the one labeled Bath with foaming cleansers. It just melts off the hard water deposits in one or two easy swipes-very little effort.

We do the same as lostinfla. Fake shammy sold in Walmart and auto supply stores. Wipe shower wall down after every use and it will stay clean. We have to clean the floor or bottom of the shower every now and then as i think oil from feet do not wipe the surface clean as it does on the walls, glass and shower surfaces.
