On 27/03/07 I sent an e-mail to Dometic shown below and received a reply the very next day.

I have a Dometic Americana Fridge in my motorhome. The Model No. is 2852

The Serial No. is74101983

I know my fridge is affected by this recall but would like to find out if
Fridges in Canada are included. If so, how will I find out where and when to
take it for repairs. I Live in Kamloops, BC, Canada and we have several
Propane dealers as well as several RV Dealers and Service Centers.
Last I would like to know if you will contact me direct or is it up to me to
get the fridge fixed by some local Centers providing they have the necessary
parts available.
Thank You

This the reply from Dometic

Yes, your refer, even in Canada is covered per the recall. Please contact a local dealer to have this processed.

If you are in need of any Dometic refrigerator or air conditioner or A& E awning parts you can call us at 1-800-544-4881 or purchase from any dealer or Camping World location.

If we can be of any future service do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for choosing Dometic product lines.

I am posting this as there seemed to be some doubt if fridges in Canada were included in this recall. It also appears that they want you to make your own arrangements to get the repairs done and according to this e-mail I have to assume that the dealer or service center will bill Dometic for this service costs.I hope I am right with this assumption

I don't know if Dometic's process is different for Canadian rvers or not. The process in the US was to call Dometic and get your name on a list. At that time, they identified a dealer to do the work for you. Then you would receive a letter from Dometic authorizeing the repair. You then would take the letter to the dealer who would order the parts and make an appointment for you to bring the rig in for the fix. I would suggest calling Dometic and see what process they want you to follow. With them trying to service over 900,000 units, you don't want any delays.
