Hi,

Well yesterday it finally happened, I hit a branch not trimmed back enuf at the side of the road (in a repair zone on a detour because of a multi fatality accident closing my intended route er not my day ).

Anyway questions (so far not answered by searching the forum):

1. where can I find parts (it's on a 2003 Scottsdale). Does anybody know the manufacturer?

2. It is only the adjustable part of the mirror that is broken, the housing is fine. So I might not have to replace the whole unit, anybody know the repair/replace procedure? Or, where I could find them?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

You may have some info in your black case some were MFG by RAMCO, I do not have my case to help you when I get to new house I'll try to look it up for you in any case you should be able to get replacement parts direct from them.

Thanks Guys. I will try calling the factory (newmar) maybe I'll get lucky. I have been singularly "unimpressed" by most of the answers that I have received from them in the past. The info is usually better here for "older" rigs like mine.

And 007, I will look in my black bag to see if they included a "sheet" on the mirrors.

I have been searching every forum I can find for info. I just don't want to replace the whole "head" when only the top (moveable) part of the mirror is cracked. Because I will have to get it painted etc. $$$. If I get a part number and repair method, I will post details here.

Dave

Hi Dave,

Have you gone by an automotive glass repair shop?

If its just the glass mirror, could one be cut to size and cemented/glued over the existing remains?

Thanks Max I hadn't thought of that option. That's really a good suggestion (as they all have been) but, I usually miss the "obvious" solution .

I'll try that one since it should be cheaper. The mirror seems to be mechanically sound (movement that is) just one section is broken. so I could remove that section and glue a new mirror over the remains. I probably will lose the heated "function" but I never drive her in the winter anyway (I thought that was why we owned these things)

A follow up.

I have called RAMCO twice now and got shunted to "Voice Jail" (so much for customer support ) I will have to go by a glass shop since Ramco seems to be "deaf" and I need to use the rig. I had heard that they had a great support staff???? So far I am Un-Impressed! But, perhaps thay have had layoffs too. This Gas/Oil price run-up could mean a complete restructuring of the RV industry.
