Adventures of Newbee, turn off the jacks

There we were driving down the road when all of a sudden alarms went off, a growling came from the front compartment.

Nothing on the instrument panel. Ok slow and pull over. Look to my left and the leveler control pane is flashing “excessive slope”.

Figured out that I had not powered of the jacks after I retracted them 🤬. We have the equalizer system that you have to turn the power off. The growl? I think the hydraulic tank motor came on to retract the jacks, that were already retracted.

So there ya go. We make the dumb mistakes so you don’t have to.

Mark,
I'm not sure what your noise was, since the pump should not run to retract the jacks. Our HWH system times out (shuts down) either before or after beginning to drive it. After retracting all jacks of course. Someone with a Ventana will have to assist you with what may need to be turned off before your departure.
Thanks, Stu

Mark, is powering off something new? On our 2015 VTDP the jacks automatically powered down when in travel mode (blinking green light).

Not all jack systems use springs to return the jacks to retracted position. My 2019 CS runs the pump and uses hydraulics to retract the jacks.

My jacks automatically power off when no buttons are pressed for 5 minutes and all jacks automatically retract when the e-brake is released regardless of the on/off condition of the system.

Our Ventana's equalizers work just like the ones on our Canyon Star. When you retract them the pump runs for a while after they are up until a pressure switch detects they are up. How do I know, I replaced this pressure switch on the CS after talking to Newmar and Equalizer.

Thank you for reminding all of us to Turn it Off after retracting though, I'm now afraid that if it is on and you accidentally hit AUTO …...
