If it's been well cared for and you like the floor plan, I think it's a potential candidate. My suggestion is for you to go to Newmar's COM_Net2 website and look through the Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for that particular year/model so that you see which ones might be applicable to the VTDP3936 and it's configuration. To get to COM_Net2, just follow the "Sticky: ORIGINAL Part #1 & #2 "QUICK TIPS" & "EASY MODS" listed at the top of the Newmar forum. In that way, if you don't have the appropriate service records, you have a checklist of known things to look at while you're kicking the tires.

My other recommendation is to check to see if you have enough wiggle room to get to the bathroom, kitchen sink and be able to open the fridge when the slides are in. It looks like it, but better to double check.

Hi D-S,
Look very carefully at the paint on the sides of the coach. This year was at the tail end of the dreaded paint checking disease. The paint you are looking at needs to be very clean. The sun should be shinning. Look at the side of the coach at about 45 degrees. If you see:
1. chicken scratch marks
2. spider web marks
the coach has this disease.

It will run about $20K to get it fixed. The coach would need to be returned to Newmar. All the fiberglass sides are removed and the build process starts over again. There are owners who are not bothered by this. It is difficult to see. The problem is in the fiberglass not the paint.

Thanks to you both for the input, unfortunately the rig has been sold, so on with the search!

Ventana 3936

Sorry you missed that one. We own an 07 Ventana 3936 which is very similar to the 2006 but it has a Spartan Chassis with a Cummins instead of the Freightliner/Cat combination in the 06. We have enjoyed our coach and are preparing for retirement in 2016.
We looked at moving up to a 43 footer but have decided to stay with what we have for the time being. We special ordered it so it has a number of upgrades you won't find on stock units like Dimmable Halogen Lighting, Rear Cap Storage, Docking lights and this fall installed a residential Fridge, LED TVs and brand new tires. It has been stored inside all it's life and come springtime, we will make a trip back to factory in Indiana to have the it resealed and checked and then on the Spartan in Charlotte for full service.

Just out of curiosity, what were they asking for the 06?

We certainly can recommend the Ventana as a great starter DP and would be happy to answer any questions you may have should you find another.........
