Air Bag Popped

I have a 2009 Newmar Dutch Star with the Spartan chassis. I've only had it a few months and it's my first RV so this is all new to me.

The coach was parked with nothing running (engine and generator off) and it began moving up and down. Pretty quickly one of the rear air bags popped. This happened this morning but neither the shop nor Spartan seem to know the cause. Any assitance will be greatly appreciated.

Hi gatorhiker,
Without getting under the coach and seeing the failure, there are too many possibilities, most of which would not apply. For an airbag to go on a 09 coach is not the norm. When the tech is under the coach, he should be able to determine if there is a rubbing/pinching situation with the chassis.

The RV is at a Spartan certified facility and they're working with Spartan to try to figure out what happened but no answers so far. It has already been there a few days and no one seems to know what or why it happened.

According to the shop the air bag valve and/or leveler failed. The air bags are rated to 80 PSI and the coach compressor and tank produce 125 PSI. When the valve failed it allowed the full 125 PSI to dump in to the bag which caused it to pop.
