Air compressor connection location??

Can anyone tell me where the onboard air compressor connections are on a Dutch star on a spartan chassis?

You may have a misunderstanding somewhere. The air compressor is a component of the Diesel engine. It is what supplies air pressure to the brakes, etc. The take off in the front genny compartment is actually there for tow trucks to hook into in the unfortunate circumstances of needed such assistance. As an added convenience, you can also use it as an accessory air supply.

Further to Phil's comment. On the Spartan chassis and in addition to the forward connection in the generator slide bay You may also have an compressed air-chuck connection at the rear inside the engine compartment which is similarly supplied for the purpose of adding air (tow prep) or taking air from (for emergency tire inflation) in the event of need.

As to the DS, I am uncertain of this but do know my K3 chassis was supplied with such (rear air-chuck).

Correct. Mountain Aire and up. Trying to figure out a solution for onboard air other than a pancake compressor.

I'd suspect its an easy fix (to add) in the form of tapping into the correct air line but something needing to be done by a subject matter expert (SME) to ensure air system integrity is maintained.

Viair 450p rv works great for topping off tires. Fits perfect in the little carpeted space on the left or right side of bed (towards floor)

Carry a small, portable, electric air compressor capable of 150 psi. You will be way ahead; much faster, more pressure, less noise than running the diesel engine, etc.

Porter Cable CMB-15 is a great portable compressor, and popular with RVers. About a hundred bucks. There are other good units, but most cost more.

Interesting! I’ll have a closer look. Looks like it has alligator clamps Which makes it portable. It will get used for a variety of things. How is getting the hose all away around the coach for inflating tires?

I have chassis battery on Passenger side ( 12 volt ) for passenger side and rear drivers side. If drivers front needs air I use house bank (6 volt), just make sure that you put clamps on the right post remember this is a 12 volt compressor. The only small down side is the hose that comes with this is brittle in cold temperatures, it will crack if it is stretched. I bought a 50 foot rubber hose after that. And as I said it fits perfect in that spot next to bed. Hope that helps

The female connector on the 1998 DS is next to generator. Also, note that the male part is not the common home/garage pressure system fit. Ours had a male fitting wired next to the female coupling. A standard male fitting will not work...the type usually supplied with a portable air compressor. Not sure what is supplied with newer coaches, but this could make for an unfortunate surprise. If you need to be towed, the driver may not carry the correct male fitting, as they must feed compressed air into your coach to air it up for the air springs and to release the brakes. Just check ahead of time to make sure you have the right one. You can either change out the female fitting or most likely purchase the male fitting at NAPA or equal.
