Air Compressor Question

I have a 2019 Mountain Aire and am curious if the engine mounted air compressor is capable of adding air to the tires? I know that there are a couple air "chucks" on the unit but have heard that there is not enough air pressure for adding to tires. Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

IMHO it's more trouble than it's worth. There are YouTube videos showing you how to put together an air chuck contraption that allows you to fill your tire with the onboard air.

I decided to just buy an inexpensive pancake air compressor that delivers 150 psi and be done with it. Best $129 I've spent:-)

A couple of things to consider; the engine must be running to use the compressor, and the pressure/flow available are marginal. Can it be done? Yes, but you will need a lot of patience.

Many of us just carry a compact electric compressor capable of 150 PSI.

Been a few discussions on this but let me give you the bottom line...

No, the onboard air is not enough in terms of volume for the big Tires on the Class A’s.

The best solution of the Viair 450P-RV, sold only by their dealers. It kicks butt, QUIET, fully accessorized, and great warranty.

The cheaper solution is the small Porter Cable.

Yes you can fill your tires on your MA. We have a 18 LA on Spartan chassis and that is how we fill tires. You do need to be a max air pressure with engine running.

The problem with using the engine air compressor is that it only builds up to 125 (+/-) and when the compressor kicks off it doesn't start again until it drops to around 90 psi.

So if your trying to fill front tires (which are usually around 110 to 115 psi),when the compressor kicks off and your filling the tire, the air volume starts to drop and then you have less air pressure in the tank then the tire needs so you cant fill it up, until the compressor kicks on again at 90. Some have made an air chuck hose with a bleed off valve so when the compressor kicks off and your still 10 psi below what the tire needs, you bleed ait off the tank to get the compressor to kick on again - then finish filling the tire. Plus it's really slow to fill the tire from 100 to 115 psi when the max output of the air compressor is 125.

Like others said, it's worth spending the money on a "stand alone" air compressor. I bough the Bostitch 150 psi 120VAC compressor and plug into the 120 outlet in the basement compartment. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Darn. I was really hoping to be able to leave my little Porter Cable at home since the New Aire has onboard air...it’s a great little compressor.

Well, perhaps I should have cited the experience that, while it can be done, it’s slow...especially if you’re down more than 5 lbs. Not my words.

Sorry for making it sound like an “absolute no”.

We are on our 3rd DP and have never had good luck with the on board air and filling the tires.
I bought the Viair 400P-RV and could not be happier. Its very compact and all fits in a nice canvas storage bag.

I just finished doing an install of a compressor that I use for airing up all of my tires. Follow the link below. Total cost, out the door, 145.00$ for parts. Labor was free.....

Another option, we use a Viair rv model. It works great and is compact. I think I would look at air doublers if I didn’t have this unit.

The problem with air doublers (or "boosters") is the cost. A decent one will set you back the cost of a half-dozen Porter Cable CMB15s. You need one with a pressure regulator and gauges on it to keep things safe and useable.
