I have a 2005 DSDP 3815 which has two A/C's The rear A/C cycles on and off every few seconds when the temperature setting is within one or two degrees of room temperature.. If you put the setting up four or five degrees it works normal.. When temp comes down to the setting the A/C cuts off, but then when it comes back on it starts the on/off cycle again. The A/C's are 13,500 btu. The front A/C works normal. We are in FL now. I had the coach at Lee's RV in OKC for some warranty work and they checked the A/C but said it was OK?????? Thanks,

Keith

Try calling customer service for the A/C manufacturer and pose your question. My guess is that the thermostat anticipator is the problem. IF I am correct you will need a new t'stat. If you can chew gum and walk at the same time you can change it yourself.

One of the things that you might try is something that I had to do to my 2005 National Sea Breeze coach. I was having the same problem that you are having and I found out how to repair it quite by accident. While the a/c was running, I removed the thermostat from the wall to see if there was an adjustment screw or something on the back of the thermostat. When I got the thermostat off the wall I noticed cold air rushing out of the hole that was in the wall for the thermostat wiring. I insulated the hole for the thermostat so that no air from behind the wall could get to it[the thermostat]...problem solved. I did this to both of the thermostats, and both a/c units now work as they should.
It seams that on some coaches, the air that goes through the ducts in the ceiling can find its way into the walls and cause this problem.

Hope this helps.[it's cheap]

Bill

Hi Keith,
Many coaches have the problem you describe, including my coach. Where is the temp sensing device? Is it on an outside wall? Is it where heat from the TV can affect it?

What I did was run a new sensor wire from the heat pump unit down through the return duct and vent. I wrapped the sensor in insulation and placed it just above the return air filter. All this does is cut down the sensitivity of the sensor. The rear unit no longer has short cycle problems. I had to experiment on how much insulation is needed.

Check to be sure it is not blowing directly on the temp sensor.

Stat anticipator can be adjusted. Correct way is by using milliamp readings but just move the adjustment slightly and see if if helps
