Air Force One vs. Blue Ox Patriot ??

Anyone have an opinion about using either of these systems? Pro's and Con's?

I've been dissatisfied with my Blue Ox brake system since Day 1. Wish I had my money back to buy something else.

jackrobinryan......Are you using the Blue Ox Patriot model? I'd really like to know what people think of that particular system as opposed to the Air Force One vacuum assist braking system.

If you jump over to the toad forum you may get more answers to your question. I'm having the SMI AFO installed on my CRV and selected it because it is a proportional system which brakes at the same pressures as the coach. After initial installation you're done with no additional set up.

Haven't looked at the patriot but don't you have to set it up each time????

Yes, the patriot.. And when I need to start towing again, I'll be buying the RVI system. I still prefer a unit that is easy to install, move between vehicles (buying another toad soon). I got a test of the RVI at the Richmond show last year. Liked it.

No experience or opinion of the AF1.

Air Force One and M&G are the two systems you should be comparing. Blue Ox makes the finest towing system on the market, but their braking system sucks!

jackrobinryan........I just watched the demonstration of the "RVI Proportional Braking System" on youtube. RVi Brake from Danko Manufacturing - YouTube

Looks like a great new product. Very compact and exactly what I was looking for if I don't go with AF1. The "Blue Ox Patriot" is compact also, but not quite as small and user friendly.

Thanks for the info!

soricobob.......M&G braking system looks really good. I've got a dealer about 20 miles from me. I'll keep it high on my list. Thanks!

It is really good. Have it installed and adjusted, then forget about it. Simple is always better. No electronics and nothing inside the towed's cab. Just connect the air line between the coach and the towed and you are on your way. You will not be disappointed.

You know....I have the latest Brake Buddy for my small 2,900 lbs car towed, since 2 years and I hate installing it
The other models that use the same principle do not impress me, including RVi brake which is the same replica, 6 lbs less !!
Paid $1,000 US for it and do not expect to use any other system for now

I am looking to get both of these. What can I expect to pay to have both installed?
