I called spartan about my front air pressure gauge and they suggested that I switch the connections on the air pressure senders and if I start having the problem with my back air pressure gauge then I need a new air pressure sender. What I would like to know is if the gold pieces in this picture are my air pressure senders? Based on the discription that spartan gave me I think this is it but I want to be sure.

that what you are looking at the air pressure sender, the only way you can tell which one is bad, is to change the wire on the back. I had to replace one on mine and they are not cheap, as i had to get it from Spartan..

Those are indeed the air sending units for the two air pressure gauges on the dash.

I had a malfunction of the sending unit two years ago with my DSDP, Spartan Chassis, and Cummins engine. The air pressure gauge would drop to zero for a moment, the warning buzzer would come on, and then rebound to normal. I checked at Cummins in Houston and they said it was a Newmar part. I checked with the Newmar dealer and he told me there was a two week back order on the part I needed. Finally talked to Spartan on the phone and they informed me the part was in stock. About $100 with shipping. No problems since replacing the part. Switch the wiring to find out which one is bad.

Had to replace mine. If you belong to Spartan Chassis International Chapter Of FMCA. Call Spaton and the price is 75.00 shipped. You have to have a Spartan Chassis to belong.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have the same problem on my 1999 DSDP. (Cummins/Spartan). The rear pressure gauge shows no pressure even though everything seems to be working. I've been all over the engine compartment and under the hood looking for something like the picture from the OP with no luck. Does the party look different in my MH or am I just looking in the wrong place?

I have a '03 DSDP. In '09, my one gauge would periodically drop to zero, the buzzer would come on, and almost as fast the gauge would go back to normal. The two air sender units are located under the front hood on the firewall. The picture in the previous answer is very accurate and the air sender is the brass colored looking pot. Another view can be found in a service bulletin you can get from Spartan. Call them and ask them for a service bulletin that would show a picture of the air sender units.
I got it on a recall service bulletin from '05. RSB05-400-001. There has been a recall on the wiring harness but not the actual air sender.

When I switched the wiring on the two sender units, the other gauge now malfunctioned which showed that it was a bad sending unit. I had one sent from Spartan and it was a simple replacement fix. Make sure you air down the system before you remove the bad unit. If you need more info do not hesitate to ask.

Good luck!!

Well, we finally had a break in the weather for me to go out and switch the sending units. Sure enough, the gauges on the dash traded readings. Called Spartan and ordered the new sending unit. Possibly the first time I called them and didn't sound like a complete idiot - thank you all for that.

Fixed! Thanks for the help, everyone. It took me a bit of effort to snake myself up into the wheel well but I got it done. For future reference, on a 1999 DSDP the lower air pressure sender is for the rear and the higher one is for the front.
