I have an 04 DSDP (Spartan Chassis) with the three cables (Silver,Red, Green) for releasing moisture. Is it important that they be done in this order? Could they all be released at the same time?? What is each color connected to? I can't find the info in all the stuff! in my notebook or online. Thanks

Nay, just yank them to blow any moisture out. I found if you keep the drier filter changed, I get nothing out of them. Blew mine yesterday while oiling front step. I can't even tell what color mines are.

This question came up yesturday with motorhome friends and I remember in a seminar at Spartan, they said to do Silver 1, Red 2, and Green 3. I don't remember why and my notes don't say why. Just hold for 5 secs and do each one 4 or 5 times.

I attended a Spartan session and this is the procedure they outlined:

Lanyards

Start engine and wait until chassis is fully aired up (about 130 psi) then turn engine OFF, but leave ignition switch ON so gauges are powered.

1. Pull SILVER lanyard (wet tank) – there should be no significant moisture and neither of the gauges should change.

2. Pull GREEN lanyard (primary tank – rear air) – there should be no significant moisture and one gauge should go to zero.

3. Pull RED lanyard (secondary tank – front air) -- there should be no significant moisture and both gauges should now be at zero.

Note: Pull each lanyard until the tank is empty (i.e., the hissing stops)

I was talking to an Essex owner yesturday who hooked all three together and pulled them at the same time. Will this accomplish the same thing??? Is this OK???

YES. It's just to dump any moisture. I've never had any in mine. I wouldn't drain the tank all the way .Serves no purpose unless it's full of moisture.

If you do them in the proper order and air up in between, can't remember sequence, it will also show you if your tanks are OK for leaks..two of the tanks actually are one with a wall separating them...the wall can leak..so when you drain, it will blow water if any, and also if done in proper order show integrity..suggest you contact spartan for sheet that shows how to do it..they can fax or e mail..

On my 04 DSDP they are by the frame, inside of the front right wheel. Three in all. I'm still trying to find out if pulling all three at the same time would still do just as good????? Not that I have done it, but I know someone who set his up to do this.

yes you can pull all three and it will spit the water out and you will do no harm, you won't know which tank had water...tying them together or always pulling them together defeats the other testing purpose for checking system integrity

If you have water in one, your going to have them in all three. It means your air drier isn't working.

So after one pulls all these cables and releases the moisture, What do we have to do after this? I can't find anything about this in my manuals. I have a 2005 ksdp.

Hi paintman607,
After draining the tanks of air and any moisture, it would be a good time to replace the air dryer. I replace mine every two years. To get the air dryer off, the system must be completely drained of air.

FYI, it is a must to pull the lanyards until all the air is out of the tank. Residual moisture will leave the tank only after all the air is expelled.

I never drained mine. Are you talking of the screw on filter or the whole drier? If you have air in it it's not relieving on compressor shutdown.
