Air Up Issues

Since I purchased my coach, just about every time I let it sit for more than a few days, like when parked at home, the compressor will build air and eventually "spit", but the coach doesn't lift (air up). Typically, I have to cycle through "Auto Leveling", then "Auto Store" to get the coach to air up.

I'm not sure if it's a valving issue, or an electronics issue. Looking for any input before I do my least favorite thing and take it to Freightliner. The problem is....it's intermittent.

Thanks

My coach, with Valid air leveling, will stay where I left it, until I press 'travel height'.

I have the HWH system. It won't come to ride height till I push the "travel height" button or put it in gear. One time it did stay down though. Never have figured out why and it's never done it again.

Right. Putting trans in drive or reverse should put you to travel height as well.

Don, is your coach on the levelers before you air up, or does this happen also when it just sits on the bags?

If it was on the levelers, how do you level the coach? Do you use auto level, or do you release the air manually and then level manually?

The reason I'm asking is that I had the exact same issue when manually dumping the air. The coach would not come up to ride height afterwards even though it purged the air.

Look at your "travel mode" indicator. If it's not lit up, you need to press it and the coach will air up normally (I think I remember correctly?!)

Hi Don - It sounds like you have a shuttle valve that needs replacing if I understand your issue. (You fire up the engine and air pressure comes up to normal but the air bags don't inflate?) Somewhat common issue and FL can fix you up easily.

My coach will not air up to ride height until I hit the auto store when the key is in the on position.

My sequence is to auto store the jacks with the key in the acc position, start the engine, hit auto store again and come to ride height.

Seems strange to me but it works. I would think once you auto store the jacks and the travel indicator light comes on it would go to ride height when you start the engine.

Do you have a travel mode light on your jacks when you start the engine?

Don, I believe this is normal because this gives you the opportunity to start the engine and build air pressure and use the air fitting by the Gen to blow up tires or whatever and not change the ride height
Then with engine running, you tap the travel button on the road and the coach will the fill the air bags to ride height OR you can hit store jacks and get to ride height BUT then you go thru the 6 minute cycle again for store jacks ......C

Yes the travel light is on.

I auto store the jacks and the travel light comes on. It won't go to ride height until I start the engine and hit the auto store again.

I always start the engine first then hit auto store. When it is aired up, I shut of the engine and bring in the slides. Try starting the engine first then retract the jacks.

Since purchasing the coach, I've probably only aired the coach up 10-15 times, so I haven't really identified a specific pattern. I know that it has done mostly after I manually dumped the air. When I park it at home, I don't use jacks, I manually dump and leave it that way. On each occasion where it's been an issue, the green travel mode light has been on. I've also tried putting it in gear and releasing the parking brake....still nothing.

"10 fan".....It's most closely doing what you described....doesn't work after manual dumping. So how do you get yours to air up?

I like the idea that maybe it stays down so yo can use the air, without airing up, but I haven't found way to trigger it to air up, other than cycle through auto level.

Mine is the same. If manually dumped, the suspension won't come to ride height unless the auto store button is pushed. I'm assuming you have the standard HWH leveling control like the picture. I believe this is the only way to do it.
