Also, you don't have to make a ton of reservations. We only made two for the whole summer - the July 4 weekend (Alaskans like to camp, too) & for 5 nights in Denali's Teklanika campground - the farthest you can drive. Those we only made a couple weeks before being in the area. As it turned out we were near Denali a little early so on a whim we boondocked in a lovely spot and drove into the park early morning. We easily secured a spot in Denali's front campground for 5 nights. Being in Denali 10 nights we saw 'the mountain' 7 of 10 days and every one of the big animals - more than once. It was an awesome trip. We went up on the Alaskan and returned on the Cassier.
Yes have their book and a good resource along with Milepost. We have only made reservations for Denali’s Teklanika 7/9. Will book for July 4th weekend soon, thanks.

Yesterday we spent the day in Red Deer, needed to visit Frieghtliner dealer for some routine service that didn’t get done as requested when I did 3yr service in Portland. New West Truck Center (formerly Frieghtliner of Red Deer) accomplished requested items, very good communicating as I talked to the tech on a couple of item. They protected the entryway of the coach and were mindful that it is our home. Hope nobody needs their services but would recommend.

While coach was being serviced we took the opportunity to visit Costco. Interestingly they only take Mastercard, no AMEX or Visa. While in Canada (Alberta anyway) we have had to sign as debt with no pin allowed. First fueling here in Canada and you have to go inside to pre-authorize amount, gets complicated figuring how many gallons, converting to liters and then $ amount.

Today we are leaving Red Deer and stopping at Sherk’s RV Park in Valleyview, northwest Alberta. Will update after we do the 300 miles.

Have a safe trip. Once you get an idea of fuel usage, don't worry about getting to close of estimate, AB and BC have been doing this for quite some time. I have not ever experienced an over charge ( think you wil need $200, authorize $250, you will only be charged what you take).

Today we traveled to Sherk’s RV Park some 300 miles from Red Deer. We will stay 2 night, 2 bars on both Verizon and AT&T with DirecTv still working. Park is nice with good room in between sites, full hookup, 30amp service.

Drove from Valleyview, Alberta to Dawson Creek, B.C. yesterday 150 miles with good road. There was a 5 mile stretch 40 miles south of Grand Prairie road was a little rough. Construction is starting this week just north of Grand Prairie on Hwy 43.

We stayed at Sherk’s RV Park in Valleyview which was a great park with 30amp service. Since there is nothing around of interest owners take pride in what RV park offers.

Taking in the various sightseeing in Dawson Creek, Northern Alberta Railroad museum, Kiskatinaw Bridge, Mile Post 0. Staying at Northern Lights RV Park, which is nothing special. Will depart Wednesday heading north on Alaska Highway.

Bill and Lisa,
Enjoying your news clips on the trip. I have been up and down the Al-Can highway 3 times first in 1957. Second in July 1962 and last in July 1964. In 64 it was over 1500 miles of dirt road.

We just arrived Eagle River, Alaska yesterday. Entered Canada at Sweet Grass, Montana on May 2. I was pretty satisfied with road conditions till Whitehorse. Whitehorse to Haines Junction they got worse. Haines Junction to the border was bad. The border to Tok not any better. Tok to Glennallen was horrible. All in all about 400 miles.

Trip was great. Saw lots of animals, black bear, brown bear, caribou, elk, coyote, deer and Buffalo. Liar Hot Springs is Connie's favorite stop. We stayed in the overflow parking lot which worked out perfect. We had the entire lot to ourselves and didn't have to unhook the tow car. It was a short walk to the hot springs and was very nice.

I want to give a shout-out to Deep Creek Camping and Events in Sangudo, Alberta. Sangudo is west of Edmonton and before Whitecourt. The Shurra family who owns and operates the facility are the most gracious host we have ever met. It is located on the Pembina River and absolutely beautiful.

Thanks for update on roads, have heard the same 2-3 weeks ago. Just wondering If it is frost heaves, construction or just generally rough. I was told be better off going to Delta Junction then south.

Looking forward to seeing the wildlife, just not on the road.
