Alright...now what is this????

A large roller just came out from under the sofa. Is this a necessary part for my large slide to function...hmmmm?

The more interesting question is "how do you put it back?" .-)

It looks like the rollers I just cleaned on my slide outs. Pull the couch out and get in there to take a look before you have a real disaster. It may be easy to put back on if some mounting bolts came loose.

Get down in your step well and look under slide with flashlight to check out your rollers under slide. You may have three to four rollers under there.
I would not think its an extra one the nuts must have come loose and are under there also.
The new slide spec in QT's 1 & 2 will tell you how to tilt the slide so it can be reattached to its brackets under slide.

Looks like the roller has some scoring on it. Might be good to check the rest of the slide mechanism to see why it "came loose"

Good luck and let us know!

This is one of the large HULKING full wide slides. Probably 30 ft. It probably has several of those rollers that ride under and across the floor. This one is roughly in the middle of slide. Has anyone actually had this happen? Thing is I'm in the middle of a trip and I AM NOT turning around and going back home!! Wouldn't be able to get a scheduled service for it anyway any time soon. I'm thinking since its in the middle of the slide and not at the end,it shouldn't sag or tilt.

Houston, we have a problem! These slide rollers are either spring loaded, or bolted on at the ends. Either way, I would look at replacing the entire roller assembly. They run about $20 or so from Newmar. The hard part is done, you can call their parts department and give the the size of the roller and they should be able to match you up. The really difficult part is getting it back in place! There are several methods, but I personally haven't done it yet. Need to though as I have one that I think is failing.

I had to replace one of mine once. I put the slide out about half way to be able to see and replace the roller. Granted I don't have one of those humongous full wall slides, but they probably are replaced the same way.

A mobile rv tech may be able to take care of it in short order.

IIRC the full wall slides I saw last year during a factory tour had 5 or 6 rollers.

Your 2015 coach should be under warranty. Newmar will fix it at no charge, the only issue is it's the weekend (a holiday weekend at that) and you're on the road.

I'd do as 007 says and look under it for any other hardware that came off, they'll cause damage if not found. You also should be able to see the mounts for the roller and determine whether or not they will scratch the floor as you extend the slide.

In any case, Newmar should pick up the tab for any damage. Call them at 1-(800)-731-8300 on Monday (early AM is the best time to reach them) and explain what happened. They'll ask for the picture you posted and may be able to find you a mobile repair service who will come to you and repair it as YC1 said, depending on whether that's the only damage.

Good Luck, and hopefully this will be only a minor inconvenience and you'll enjoy your trip!
