And another thing....oil fill
Why would Newmar not have a cutout in the hood so you can easily add oil? On my Bay Star it looks like you have to get a 12" tube to a funnel to add oil. Potential mess. Guess I'm just picky.

I use one of those flexible tubes used for adding Trans fluid. You can buy them at Walmart for about $5. They have a connector that screws onto the top of the 1 quart oil containers. So far, 4 oil changes and I have yet to drip any oil when putting it into the engine.

Last time I changed oil in my Canyon Star I used a hand pump. Stuck the suction tube in a 5 quart jug and pumped away. Took a little work and time, but no mess.

I agree, Mad. My Workhorse chassis has the same problem. Here's a link I started that offers some help.

Think about this: Why don't you cut one in the hood of your Newmar?
(Whatever you are thinking right now is probably the reason Newmar doesn't put cutouts in the hoods of the coaches they build).

Just thinking off the top of my head here, but it seems to me that if you have to add oil often enough that a hood cutout would make your life easier then you have engine issues to deal with somewhat larger than a hood cutout.

I just want to change my own oil. No motor issues.

It's not so bad if you use only quart size bottles, and not the 5 quart. But
who dose that.

I use the quart bottles, it only costs me about $3 more total to do the oil change. I attach the transmission filler tube to the top of the quart bottle, and it fits in the compartment real easy. It's easy to hold up and put in the filler tube, and I get no mess or oil spills, so it's worth it to me.

Mike the reason I like to use the 5 quart container, it gives me
something to put used oil in.Your right the cost is minimal for the
convenience.

I use the 5 quart containers for all my other vehicles, and put the used oil back in them too. But on the MH I just use the quart bottles, and put the used oil back in them, takes me a few minutes longer, but much easier to put in the MH.
