Annual service date ?

According to Newmar the annual service is due 12 months from the in service date which in my case is 2015-2-19. But when I contacted Freightliner I was told service is based on the chassis build date, which in my case is 2014-8-16. Has anyone been penalized by using the Newmar date rather than the Freightliner one or has everyone gone with the build date?

The in service date would rule I think. The build date may not make much sense, the Chassis build date on my Horizon was late 99, but the motor home was built in 2000.

Freightliner always recommends chassis service date as date to perform all following chassis service. One reason is that oil is recommended to be changed at one year intervals if mileage does not require sooner. This is the same with auto chassis. One reason is due to possible condensation buildup within the crankcase oil. There are reasons they use chassis build date; such as they built it and warranty the chassis.

Freightliner first service is due 6 months after build date. Inside the chassis book you received, you will find service intervals and what is required to be serviced.
