Another small mod to the LA

Installed a functional "splash guard" on the end of the kitchen counter. Not the most aesthetically pleasing (especially as we could not get the glass we wanted), but needed. We have two terriers and need to keep them off the stove top and out of the toaster oven sitting on top of the counter, not to mention the cupboards (one of them has been known to open closed cupboards). It's as much about their safety as it is annoying.

I did not screw the channel to the counter top or wall, I used automotive molding tape to hold it down. It won't go anywhere on it's own, but I, or a future owner, could eventually remove it.

Looks good!

Did you cut the glass?

I guess if they choose to jump over that barrier you will have to train them to cook Bacon and Eggs!

Bought the glass at a local glass company (not as easy to find as I thought it would be). I had them cut it to the dimensions I gave them, round off the front upper corner and radius and polish the edges. They gave me the mounting channel and gasket. The hardest part was installing the gasket, much easier once I figured out the guy at the glass company had me trying to install it backwards.

Nice job. I'm surprised Newmar didn't already do that. I've seen lots of RV's with at least a small tempered glass divider where the kitchen counter ends when it ends next to a couch or TV console.

Ha, took me a while to realize you didn't have a box of " Can't fit into pants", sitting on a counter !!

If you look at interior photos of the LA (and most others for that matter) they have a 3 or 4" high rail that wouldn't do much to keep curious pets off the counter. One of our "specials" was to eliminate the OEM "barrier"

Looks great nice fix that does not take away from the looks of the LA.
