Any ideas how to quiet noisy screen door?
When we ride down the road the screen door bangs & bangs.
When I looked at it closely, discovered beside the hinges there is only one small lever handle to hold it in place. Any ideas that worked for you?

I'm not sure I'm with you on the cause of the noise, but, try this. Place a rolled up towel or like item between the door and the screen door. Now with the screen latch hooked the door will be preloaded. If this quiets it, adjust the latch much tighter creating the preload on the latch.

Yes we had the same problem on 2016 Ventana LE 4037. A Newmar technician, who is an awesome guy and craftsmen, fixed it and made the rattle silent. He tightened the screws on the top of the screen door and he put a washer to be a spacer somewhere on the door to fill the gap. I'll look on my coach tomorrow and post an update.

I'm with Lug Nut. We do the same thing with a small towel/rag. All that is needed is to create a little pressure between the screen and the exterior door and it seems to do the trick. As I said on another thread, it's not elegant, but it works!

We added some of those 1/4" thick small felt disks with sticky tape on the back. Usually find these in the hardware store to replace chair or small furniture feet meant to be safe on hardwood floors. Just stuck them to the end of the existing rubber bumper spacers on the door. Holds it solid - no rattling. Have to realign them every few months as the tend to slip off center. Best solution we have found yet.

tiny bungee cord
I'm glad you brought this up, Suecamp! I have a solution that stops the rattle but isn't very elegant and it looks like some of the other ideas are better. What I've been doing is raising the screen and then putting a tiny bungee cord around the bottom post for the screen and the vertical metal handrail.

Ours has a kick plate at the bottom that was loose. A bead of silicon fixed it...it made an awful lot of noise until I fixed it.

Check in the Newmar technical tips on this site. I wrote up a series of steps that we had taken to quiet the screen door and minimize squeaks, bangs and clanks, etc. The administrator thought that the tips were worthy of retaining for others who have similar issues and said that he would put them there. I think if you do a search for screen door noise or something similar you should be able to find it. Good luck. We know first hand how bothersome it can be. Safe travels.
