I'm interested in getting the EC-30W wireless generator autostart. One thing that many people have a problem with is that you are supposed to plug it into an outlet not connected to the inverter.
The reason is that it allows the unit to detect if the RV has shore power. If so, it won't start the generator.
Does Newmar have any outlets not connected to the inverter?
Here's a link to the EC-30W for those who are interested.

Yup, sure do, just check them with your inverter on. We specified which outlets were to have inverter power when we ordered the coach(including ice maker in frig) so not sure which ones will be standardly inverter powered.
Although we did not order Auto/Generator Start our Zantex inverter has the capability built in and with three wires to the Genny we have it.

Unplug the shore power and turn on the inverter. You should find some outlets with no power.

I'll have a lot of time to try this tomorrow. I'm heading to the dealer to get our Ford Taurus X set up as a toad and pick up the Ventana after they fixed a couple things and did the recall for the exhaust cover.
I have to spend all day at the dealer.
I've just read that some people have motorhomes with no outlets not on the inverter. I wasn't sure what Newmar did.
Thanks!!

Some coaches may be made with all outlets on the inverter. To do this, the inverter is going to be a large capacity. I think high line Newmars are made this way.
If you find no outlets without power, there is always the standby of using the engine heater outlet in the electrical bay. This outlet has power only when shore power is present (not sure about genset power).

I would bet the washer/dryer outlet is not on the inverter.

It's not cheap, but when you factor in the labor of having the hardwired version installed, it's not bad.
It's $499 plus $50 for the wiring harness at the genny. See the link in the first posting.

I think every normal duplex outlet in our King Aire is on the inverter. The washer, dryer, block heater, and basement freezer are not.

Ditto for me and ours is an 02 DSDP with a 2,000 watt inverter.

Our Chest freezer IS on the inverter. Would not want it not on the inverter(hate too lose the Salmon/Halibut filets in Alaska).

Don't need the inverter with the freezer in our rig. It's dual power - AC & DC, so if there's no AC it pulls DC directly from the coach batteries. It's some Norcold model, as I recall.

If you don't normally have your inverter turned on when on shore power it doesn't matter what outlet you use. I bought the EC-30W at the FMCA Perry Rally and the Onan guys told me just that. It is an easy installand was exceptionally easy for me as the Onan techs installed it at the rally. It took them only a few minutes.
I only turn my inverter on when I need it so I can plug the unit in to any outlet I choose. I don't have a chest freezer though.

That's a good point. I only use my inverter when I don't have electric hookups.
Thanks!
