June 2008 - Atwood Levelegs, front right would not extend (thank goodness it wasn't extended). Out of warranty by 6 months. I took it in for repair and the unit needed to be replaced. Atwood DOES NOT sell replacement parts for these units.
$1,150 later I got a new replacement unit installed. I asked for the defective unit back and disassembled it (very easy). Two gears that drive the leg sheared. I had gears made at a local machine shop and the unit works fine.
Now, today, two months later, the replacement unit did the SAME THING.
I installed the original unit I had repaired and it works fine.
Wish me luck. Next week I have to attack this problem with Atwood and the service center.

WOW, Very many of those $1150 replacements and it would be less expensive to visit HWH and have a hydralic leveling system installed. Please post if you determine what is causing the gears to strip. Maybe a clutch not working properly, but it is a wild guess as I have no idea how they work. I have Atwood level legs for the first time and while they seem to work fine thus far, I am not impressed at all. when the
