Like most of you we have an Atwood LP detector on the wall behind the passenger seat. This item seems to be "hardwired" with no battery (at least that we have seen) and it firmly screwed to the wall. In the last month or so, this little annoyance has begun to chirp around 2am as it gets cold. At first it was only if it was below 45 degrees in the coach, now it is below 55 and it starts. Probably once every 20 to 30 seconds as opposed to being an actual alarm.

We don't have the heat on at night and it didn't do this last winter, so assuming something is wearing out or different somehow. Have tried turning off the LP switch in the panel in front of the passenger seat, but that didn't fix the problem. Our interim fix is to keep a small electric heater near it and set warm enough to keep it from getting us up in the middle of the night.

Anyone have any experience with this unit and know if there is some r&r possible, or does it just need to be replaced? Thanks up front.

We just recently had the same thing happen and replaced our Atwood brand LP detector. They are hardwired into the 12v system and unfortunately can/do malfunction before their 3-5yr lifspan. There should be a manufacture date on the rear of the detector. I don't know if low/dry coach/chassis batteries would cause this but it wouldn't hurt to check. Low/malfunctioning baterries have been known to make 12v dependant items act weird. Abscent that, it might be time to get a new one. You might do a search at one of the sponsers on this forum, "IRVUpgrades", http://www.rvupgradestore.com/ or PPL RV Parts Superstore as I think they carry the Atwood brand. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/p...s_rv_accessories.htm I read your website and it sounds like your having fun in your travels.

Well, we found the problem and feel like goofs. There is a smoke detector on the ceiling right over where this LP detector is at. It was the culprit, but due to the seat, the walls and so on it "sounded" like it was coming from the LP thing. And the alarms sound exactly alike. Oh well. New battery and we won't be kept awake by this any more nights. Glad we aren't having to replace the $50 detector.
