Last Tuesday we took off with two other coaches from River Bend and went to Blue Water Key in the Keys. We headed north again on Thursday from the Keys and stopped at a casino about half way back to RB. It was quite warm and very humid. The temperature was warm for sleeping so I put the gen on auto, set the bedroom to 73 degrees and went to bed. The temperature was about 73 in the coach. Shortly the temperature reached 74 at which time the genset started and ran the bedroom air until it was 72 and then it shut down. About an hour later the temp again must have reached 74 as the genset started and repeated the process. It only ran about 20 minutes to bring the temp back to 72. Then it took another hour to again restart at the 74 degree cut in temperature.

It was very comfortable the whole night and the operation was barely noticable from the bedroom. If you haven't tried this feature give it a whirl. It's downtown great.

Hi Peter,
Glad to see you're back safe. How were the Keys? Crowded or not?

Hi Peter! Our settings for the temp are in the bathroom, not on a panel like yours. Do you know if in our case what shuts the auto genset off, the 2 hour setting on the panel or the temp setting itself?? Paul

Hi Gary, The trip was great, and no it wasn't that crowded except for Mallory Square in the late afternoon. Blue Water Key was full, but there are only 82 sites there. I got one on the water with a Tiki hut and a dock, so my place was party center. The people there were all very friendly and nice.

I have autogen start. I was told by Newmar that the generator will run for the time setting, even though the temperature will turn it on.

I have yet to test this though. So I hope Newmar was mistaken and mine is set up the same as Peter's.

If so, not sure how often the time limit would come into play.

Paul, I don't know the function of the MA '07 controls, however it probably will work similar to the one of the Essex. The manual does not, to my knowledge, describe this function in the Essex. I'm sure yours will start on AC demand if enabled to. To test it, start your one AC on shore power. Make sure auto start is enabled. Adjust your one AC unit just above the inside temp. Disconnect the shore power. The genset should start automatically. Now observe the inside temp. When the set temp is reached and the AC shuts down, the genset will probably shut down too. It then should self start when the temp rises above the set point.
