I'll take a shot at it, but I have never heard of an auto reverse switch. The only momentary switch I am aware of in that location is the Battery Boost switch for connecting the house and chassis batteries together for emergency starting. Do you have a Batttery Boost switch? Could the previous owner have replaced the Battery Boost switch with one that says Auto Reverse?

Auto Reverse eh?

Sure would hate to be sailing down the highway on a bright sunny day, enjoying the trip, and then....accidentally bumping something called....AUTO REVERSE !!!!!!!

I have the same on my coach. I think it is for the backup lights. You can turn the light on to see the hitch area and then return the switch to auto for backing up. I have not tested this theory.
