I also have a 2008 KS, but mine is a KSDP, and it sounds like you have the nicer electric awning. Mine is the manual A&E-9000.
It sounds like you might have a similar problem I had earlier this year. I thought I could solve it myself, but nothing I tried worked. So when we arrived at our destination RV Park, locals suggested a mobile RV mechanic they'd all used. He inspected the awning and determined that the edge attached to the coach was slipping sideways in its channel. That edge of the awning has a bead of rubber material (he called it "jute" but it was actually a hard round synthetic rubber stuff) the awning fabric is sewn around. Then this bead is slipped down an extruded aluminum slot the length of the awning. The bead in the channel holds the awning material against the side of the coach.
He also determined that for an unknown reason, the rear side of my awning was missing almost a foot of this bead ("jute"). He ended up slipping the awning back a couple of inches (don't remember how he did that). Then he crimped the front end of the aluminum channel so the awning bead couldn't move back forward again. And finally he jammed in almost a foot of bead (the stuff he called "jute" but was actually a round rubber/plastic material) into the back side.
And by golly -- I haven't had a single problem with my awning since.
After watching him, I'm glad I didn't continue trying to fix this myself. I could have, but I didn't know what I was doing -- or what was going on -- or what needed to be done.
All told, it cost me $100 -- well worth it in my opinion.
