Awning ordeal

Reference your awning tradegy; similar happened to us, but not that severe. Did you know that your homeowners insurance,(if you are not a fulltimer), will cover the loss? I called my company and after paying the deductible, of course, the picked up the total cost. Worth calling your agent for your residence coverage. Covered under "personal property" coverage. good luck.

Tie wraps or velcro to the awning arms will prevent the awning arms from extending, BUT they will not stop the awning from unfolding if the roler starts un spooling. One needs to have a safety lock in the roller...in my opinion and experience.

Installed my awning lock yesterday. Easy installation and it will provide a little more piece of mind that the new awning will be more secure. I went with the lock from awninglock.com. As a side note, my insurance did cover the damage (minus deductable and wear deduction).
