Awning lock

Anyone had an experience of having the A &E Weatherpro power awning come unraveled or come loose while traveling? How about the travel lock sold by Keith Williams in Iowa?

We have traveled through some very very stong winds on many occasions with our Weatherpro power awning and have never had a problem or even a hint that it might unravel.
The only problem we have had is that the automatic retactor wind control does not work even after replacing the controls.

Hi Ed B,
I've had my awning apart several times (another story) and the only way I can see it unraveling is:
1. it was not closed all the way before travel
2. the locking screw at the top of the front arm has come loose. This single screw holds the motor to the shaft that allows the motor to power the awning. Loosen the screw and one can unroll or roll up the awning manually.

In addition to Gary's comment...if gears strip or motor shaft breaks awning can unravel. Mine unravelled when a strong side wind hit me coming out of Moab Utah and snapped the motor shaft.
I use the awning lock that attaches to the rear arm of the awning with a spring loaded pin that goes into the roller...I think it was from a company in Iowa. Found it on line by searching Awning Locks.

I lost my awning in November while traveling through Wyoming on I-80. I was hit by a strong side gust and it tore the awning completely off. Spoke to a lot of people after that event who have experienced the same thing. Installed the awning lock on my new awning and have not had any problems.
