If you have the two awnings, the adjustment for both will be where the two meet in the middle. It requires the black plastic allen wrench supplied with your coach bag of manuals.

Pull up the online manual for the awnings and it tells you which way to turn the adjusters. You extend the awnings, about two feet and then adjust. You stick the allen wrench in the adjuster and turn. I would do an 1/8 - 1/4 turn max and check, bringing the awning back in.

Did both awnings stop short of closing or just one? Have you tried cycling them and check for debris that could be preventing them from closing? Seems odd they went out of adjustment when not used in some time.

Awning not fully closed. Solutions?

I adjusted the screws and the awnings came in flush.

However after cycling them in and out a few times the front Awning came in and will not go back out. I guess if I were to have a problem, having it stuck in the retracted position is the best I can hope for.

Tom....if you cycle it too many times, they thermally shut down, until the motor cools down. I believe it takes about 45 minutes. Wait an hour or so and try again.

One other thing. If you over adjust the screw, the motor will continue to run and you can hear it. This will also cause it to thermally shut down. If this happens, unplug the motor and wait. Reconnect, extend, and take some adjustment out.

One word of advise. If you did go into thermal shut down and don't unplug the awnings and if it was set to open when it stopped it may open up when it cools off.

This has been reported as the cause of the Nova awnings opening on their own. So if it shuts off, unplug them until you have enough time to have them cool down before you have to hit the road.

I live near the Girard factory in San Clemente, CA so I made an appointment to have mine adjusted. They went over each awning and adjusted them. They also gave me an extra adjustment tool. They did advise me to unplug the two Nova awnings while traveling or not in use.

I did retry these 2 days ago, operating as designed, and it must have gone into thermal shutdown, exactly as predicted by DS Don. All appears to be working well. I appreciate all the help once again from this group!

SC,

Did Girard advise to unplug as a result of unintentional deployment? If so did they mention what they intend to do to fix this faulty design?

The allen wrench size is 7 mm but needs to be extra long to reach down the tube to adjust.

A couple of things. The wrench is made from nylon and probably designed that way so the adjuster is not manhandled with a metal wrench. When I was at Girard, the tech gave me an extra. I bet if you call, they'll send you one. I'm sure they cost less than 50 cents.

We were on a trip and the awning needed adjustment. I had my 7' "A" frame ladder and just couldn't reach the adjuster. I could have pulled out my 15' ladder, but that would have made it tough to place next to the two awnings. I grabbed one of my car wash poles, duct taped the nylon adjustment tool on the end and was able to make adjustments. The flexibility of the nylon tool helped.
