Awning Won't Extend

I have an A&E WeatherPro awning. It will not extend. When I push the button for retract I can see the awning try to move (it is already retracted), but when I try to extend it there is no movement at all when I push the button. I have not called A&E yet. Thanks. Mike

I would pull your switch out and make sure the wires are connected on the back

On some coaches, there are interlocks that prevent the awning from extending. Brake on, key off, ect. I don't know about yours!

Mine has does this on occasion and all I do is have someone push the button (while I am outside by the awning) and I grab the arm and give it a little pull and the awning will deploy. What is wrong is that the awning needs to have all of the pivot points lubricated, I use silcone spray and it has always resolved this issue.

These awnings are designed to detect resistance when deploying and will stop the motor if it detects more resistance than what is normal, this is to prevent the awning from coming into contact with a foreign object (a car or a person, or a tree etc.) upon deployment. it's a safety feature.

Have someone push the buttom for you and then after you have the awning fully extended, spray all of the pivot points with silicone lube and cycle the awning in and out a few times, adding more silicone each time and you'll be good to go!

P.S. I have found that mine will act up (stick) after a heavy and prolonged rain storm, I am asssuming that the water is getting into the bearings (pivot points) and washing away the lubricant. So now I have made spraying silicone on the pivot points part of my routine maintenance plan and it hasn't acted up since.

I always admired the RVs that had electric awnings, especially ones with wind sensors.

I don't feel like that anymore.

The switch is located above the passenger seat window. I checked it and all connections are OK.

Tried pulling on the arms while my wife was pushing the button, no luck.

Check your aluminum cover and see if it is binding on one end or the other. Mine occaisionally will "walk" and intefere. Mine will slip along the fabric.

if you push the extend button check to see if it tries to move. If it does not you have to check wiring and the switch. if it works going in and not out i would say you have a power problem on that side.

On mine I sometime have to place the wind sensor button to the bypass position. The switch should be located in the outside compartment near the front of the rear tires.

After a prolonged rain storm, my awning will retract by itself and then won't or can't be extended for part of the following day until it (rain/wind sensor) dries out.

I've always wondered why they (A&E) would build an awning that retacts when it rains or when the wind comes up. Now, maybe I get about the wind, but come on, don't we use an awning for rain as well as Sun ?????

Went to the WeatherPro box again, it will extend with the Open/Retract switch on the box. I guess I may need a new inside switch. Hopefully the switch not the wiring somewhere in between.
