We've been doing pretty well with our Dutch Star, except recently the back slide needs a push to get it to go out. We thought maybe it was because we needed new coach batteries. We replaced those, but the problem occurred again. It doesn't happen every time, though. Any idea what might be causing this?

Have you checked under the bed to see if something is in the way of bed box preventing the box from moving. Could be a shoe, bedspred or something that is stored under the bed.
You also have a adjustment rod that should travel freely and should be straight no bends.

Hi John,
Is it cold where you are located? Has this happened only when it is cold?

As 007 and Gary have said!!
Also there is an adjustment to increase power/amperage to slide motor, as to more power to move out or in.
This adjustment is likely on the Frame rail in
the bays.(that is where it is on my KS) You use a very small flat screwdriver to turn it up.
Increase very slightly about 1/8 of a turn or less until you test.

Ours did the same thing. First we made certain that the coach was level, (it was). Then we adjusted the amperage on the slide. Seems to have fixed the problem. Good luck.

The pot adjustment on control box is to shut off the movement of motor when the slide hits the inside or outside wall surface. The increased amperage draw activates the control box to shut off power to motor.
Didn't know it increased speed to motor.
If I'm incorrect I'll gladly stand corrected.

I believe you are correct it does 'not' increase speed, just amperage/power.

John found a slide controller under the kitchen sink of all places. It seems to be for both front and back slides, as it notes "motor 1" and "motor 2". But there is only one adjustment. This doesn't seem logical, but we are going to try it out tomorrow after we relocate.
Ginger
P.S. We appreciate your help!

You are not the first to 'find' 'em under the Kitchen sink!!!!
Only 'One' adjustment is odd!!!
I think you are on the right Track.
Good Luck
Rick

The control box for the rear slide is in the bedroom closet on the right side as you're facing the closet, at the very bottom on the back wall. The one under the kitchen sink is for your front slide. Our DSDP is on a Spartan chassis but I would assume it would be the same for a 3852. Good luck and mine does it occasional as well but I just keep holding the slide out button.

John and Ginger,
You have been given good advice about adjusting the amperage on the controller. As to location whether under the sink or bed, one or two of them why not call Newmar? They should head you in the proper direction without the frustration of trial and error.

Thank you, Al. I don't know why that's always the LAST thing we want to do! When we used it this past time, there was no problem. But we should call and find out anyway, so when it does happen again, we'll already know!
