Hey there,

It is very easy to do. Just be careful from a liability standpoint. If you have it disabled and something were to happen you could find yourself in a world of legal trouble. I have mine unplugged but always have someone behind me (spotter) that I can see. Open your engine hatch. Look down and just to the right you will find a beeper. It has a sealtight plug that you can unplug and end your beeper!

Jon let me know if you cant find it

I find that many times I am arriving late to parks due to my work schedule and nothing is more annoying than the beep at midnight. I know the park neighbors would love to wake up to it! I wired a switch at the dash with a light so I can shut it off when backing up at night BUT I can leave it on for normal daylight backups. I did this for the same thought about legal. I am going to try this summer a "timer" on the switch so that I don't have to remember to turn it back on!

Haven't seen any legal ramifications/laws! But there might be backup police around.

I'm not aware of any particular law requiring one, at least in my area. It is a good safety device, but have to agree on its annoying sound. It is always far wiser to have a spotter as there is no guartantee that people will heed the beep, beep anyway.

I just covered most but not all of mine. Still audible but about on par with my loud diesel engine.

Rest assured (regardless of state requuirements) should you backover someone and their lawyer finds you disabled a factory installed backup safety device you will be in deep kimshee!

I believe that the beeper is mandated by the Feds, like so many other unnessary things. Have an incident while it is disabled and you probably won't like the outcome.
