Thanks for the info. So the thing to do would be to pull the ground stud loose and wire brush, re-tighten grounds?

Yes if you find loose connection also use a star washer under nut ,if on a bolt, it will keep it from loosening up again.

Hi Robert,

We've had the exact same issues on our 2004 camera -- I've spoken with other MADP owners with the problem. The factory was never able to ID the cause. The warranty expired this year with the problem never fixed. Oh well.

I know the feeling as ours goes out of warranty the end of December. I was told that if the problem continued when the warranty runs out that the fact that it had been a continual problem from day "ONE" would be taken into consideration. Now I don't know exactly what that means. The factory is telling the Dealership now that they want them to duplicate the problem with the Trip Tek/Backup Camera. It would be good if they could, but the factory couldn't do it when the coach was there for three months!!! This problem is a pain in the butt. It is one reason I would consider buying another brand. Now everyone says that all the other brands have all the same or many problems we Newmar owners have but I don't hear them. We have about 5 two year old or newer Monaco's in our club and none have had anywhere near the problems I've had with this coach.

Our dealer had setup a conference call with the factory and Pioneer to fix this problem. Newmar said "no way", they had to see the camera fail before they would talk to Pioneer. Well, it took over a year before a Newmar tech actually saw the camera go black (Newmar knows they have a problem with the camera...I've talked to way to many other owners who've experienced it). Didn't help, though, it's still broke!

When I was heading out on Monday to the Dealership it quit before I could get out of my driveway, but this time I took a picture of the screen!! I actually took one before we started out, one of the blank screen and one after it came back on again. I emailed these to Service when I got home.

We did the pictures, too. Newmar would not accept them...one of their techs had to actually SEE it fail.

Talked to service today and they said basically the same thing you are saying. So they take it out on the road to try and see if it will quit while they are driving!!!!! I don't understand that logic except when it works fine for them then I am the one still stuck with the problem. So if it works fine on the road for the Tech, I guess I'm dreaming when it goes out!!!

This plan works good for them...delay until the problem goes away. We've been messing around for almost 3 years now (since the Fleetwood guy became president of Newmar) with nothing fixed. Folks can say what they want, but I've noticed a change in Newmar's service attitude under the Fleetwood presidency. I bet if you're lucky enough to have the new "high-line service" things are different.

We're moving on to another coach so Newmar won this battle.

I made up a list of things the other day that have been problems with this coach. Of course they were all listed from memory and I was in the high 30's. Only one item on the list was the Trip Tek/Back Up Camera, however the Service Manager looked back on my records the other day and this time (coach is at dealership now) will be #14 for this same problem.

Talked with Service yesterday and they did a road test and saw the screen go blank. I was told Newmar agreed to replace the screen (Pioneer). So here we go!!!

We just had a thread this pass month where it was found that a plug and wires loose in the plug was causing the monitor and dash instuments to kick off and on.

See if this will help. LINK

If you adjust your steering wheel you could be stretching some wires, I had that problem and it smoked up thru post when a wire fried rubbing on a metal bend over the post. Placed a piece of wire plastic sleeve around wires over post bend.
