Battery Compartment Cleaning
My battery compartments are really dirty and so are the batteries (both house and chassis). I want to clean them but am not sure how? Can I just use a garden hose and spray them off? Do I risk harming the batteries?

Here is what I do with wet cell batteries. I will sprinkle baking soda over top and around to neutralize any acids present. Then just hose it off with a hose.

That is what I do then let everything dry completely. After that I spray all the posts with a product that helps eliminate more build up.

After you clean them put some dielectric grease on the post, will prevent further corrosion

I get a spray cleaner from autoparts store designed for batteries. Turns purple when comes in contact with battery acid. Use rags as needed to remove gunk Flush with water. Rubber gloves are a good idea. I do a battery cleanup about once a year.

Mine is an open tray....no bottom. I just slide the tray out and rinse them off with the hose.
Same with the engine batteries. I open the bay door and spray the batteries.....I don't direct it at the wiring or fuses. Then I open the DEF door and rinse it down.
