Battery Corrosion Update/Magnum

I recently posted a thread on Battery Corrosion in our 16 Dutch Star that necessitated a complete redo of the battery bay and replacing all 8 batteries etc. titled "BATTERY BANK CORROSION REDO w/PICS".

After the install, I mentioned I would be calling Magnum to get a proper set up instructions since I believed my settings were partially responsible for the early corrosion and replacement. Others wanted to know the result of that call.

So today I called Magnum. Wow, their Tech Support guys are great. Super helpful, precise, patient and full of info.
They walked me through a re-set (you want to be in your coach if you call. He walked me through all the setting options pertinent to how we use the coach etc.
While I cannot repeat all (a lot of settings and micro settings) he said this...

There are only 3 reasons batteries get overcharged.
  1. Getting too high of voltage
  2. Too Much Current
  3. Charging too much time for the total battery hours.
Seems like once you go through that, it would help diagnose a problem or setting adjustments.

Last thing I will say, if like a lot of my other Newmar friends, you have issues with corroding battery and bay, after you clean it up, call their Tech Support. This is what they do and they do it well providing the service you would expect. Their number....425-353-8833
