When we went to get our '94 Kountry Aire out of storage yesterday, the steps didn't come down. My husband got inside, turned the batteries on, and the engine started right up, but the radio wouldn't come on.

He drove it home, and said that every couple minutes something would beep, but he couldn't figure out what's beeping.

We were out at the storage site about 3 weeks ago and when we got inside and turned on the batteries, the generator immediately tried to start (we weren't anywhere near the button that turns it on). We got that to stop, so wonder if the problem may have something to do with the generator. It appears to have a dead spot in the starter, and you have to hit the button multiple time before it will attempt to start.

But, would that affect the steps and radio? Everything else seems to be ok. I imagine we'll find out this weekend when we take him out to the lake.

Any thoughts as to what could be causing this would be appreciated.

Dave, I would take alook at your grounds for Gen and the house batteries. They maybe corroded or dirty where they attached to the chassis frame. When you first start up Gen it may take a few tries because it has been sitting awhile in storage. Clean them up the heavy battery cables and place a star washer under nut so they will not loosen up.
Your smoke or CO detectors may need a new battery because of the beeping.

Your Radio, STEPS and your LP detector (it can beep) all run from your coach (engine) battery. Your generator and all else run from the house batteries. Check the voltage on the coach battery.. bet thats where your problem is.

Thank you for your help. Turns out the 2 house batteries were bad. They are being replaced now.
