When time comes to replace my coach batteries on my KSDP, should I replace them with the same lead-acid batteries, gell-cell batteries, or glass-mat batteries?

Also, do I have to do any kind of electrical modifications to my coach to upgrade to glass mat, or gell cell batteries?

I don't mind spending the extra money if the advantages of the higher price batteries outweigh the price difference.

All answers will be appreciated.

After lots of research.. I just purchased the new Diehard Platinum from Sears.. it is an Absorbed Glass Mat battery, has higher reserve capacity than anything else I could find, plus 4 Year Free Replacement, 100-Month Prorated Warranty.. but not cheap at about $200.

ps.. you don't need to do any mods.

Your charger might have a setting for AGM vs wet. Set it accordingly. It might also have total AMP/HR setting, set that accordingly as well.

Additionally, you might want to verify with Newmar that the "relay" will not be required. I had AGM's installed at the factory last january to replace perfectly good wet cells. Part of the job was to install what they called a relay which they claimed was required to switch to AGM batteries. My unit has 8 house 6 volt batteries. Whether the less battery models do not require this is unknown to me. This was installed by Lamar of high line.
