Battery Replacement

Time to bite the bullet and replace the house batteries. We have a Dutchstar with a 2000w inverter. Can I remove the house batteries and run the dc part of the coach without the batteries installed while I take the old batteries to trade for new? Does the charging side of the inverter need the batteries installed to run the dc side to keep the refer running?

12V house items will work off converter side on inverter. Make sure you take picture of cable connections on batteries and tag them all and someone suggested tie the battery cables going to a specific lug together.
Tape the hot battery leads.
