Bay Star 2910 Microwave replacement
Hi all,
We would like to replace the over the range Dometic microwave in our 2012 Bay Star 2901 with a similar sized micro convection oven. The current oven is measures 22" wide x 18" deep x 16" tall. It is a small 900W oven with somewhat limited cooking abilities. Unfortunately 22" is the maximum width unless we do some serious cabinet mods.
Has anyone here had experience adding a micro convection?
Any recommendations?
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Al

Besure you have the correct wire size and breaker size for a convection oven.

I ordered the convection/microwave and it is 30" wide and the cabinet with a door just to the left of your microwave is sacrificed. Newmar installed the same Frigidare convection/microwave they were installing in the DSDP and up 2012 RVs. Picture below shows there is only one cabinet door to the left; the flat cabinet space to the left of my microwave is blocked off. Also, the convection/microwave is on a 20 Amp. circuit.

The breaker for the microwave is 20 amps. Good so far.

If you do your own install, read Neal C's post on changing his. Newmar does not install their microwaves like you would in house. They drive screws into the top from the cabinet above and also drive screws into the rear panel (looking under the bottom at the back). You need to find all those screws to release it. You'll most likely need to rebuild or reinforce the back wall as Newmar uses the minimum wood required.

Replaced the MW in our 1999MA with one of same dimentions. Went to Best Buy with tape measure and found same size.
Did have to do some mods to make me comfortable it wont fall out.
I see yours is against wall on right side so be careful to check how door opens that it does not bind. Also had to modify trim to allow our door to open comfortably on our coach.
Our unit had a backing more than sufficient to anchor new unit. I dont know why Newmar would put more than what was necessary to support Microwave or anything else for that matter.
