Recently sold my diesel pusher and want to downsize. The 2 that I am looking at include the 2901 Bay Star and 28DS Georgetown VE. Any experience with either? Open to any advise regarding downsizing. I sure have to get rid of a lot of 'stuff'. I wonder if the the small Ford Chassis will handle ok.

The Bay Star win's hands down. We 'got' ours on Sep. 22 - 2008.
Still is without problems. Has everything we need, so - we KEEP it.
Order the Bay Star with the bigger chassis. We just had one or two
threads here on iRV2. Maybe use the SEARCH function.

Lundy here is a thread about someone else looking for a Bay Star and the discussion. This individual got the larger Ford chassis.
It would be hard for me after owning 3 Newmar's to move to a different MFG.
I have seen the new Ford chassis at the Tampa RV show and it sure has changed from the 3 V-10 F-53's truck chassis's I had. The new F-53 has been redesigned for RV MFG's much like the Workhorse was back in 2001.
Good luck in your quest.

Hi lundy,
I can not comment on the Georgetown. As to the Bay Star, I've seen the model you are considering. It is a very nice coach. As for Newmar, in South Florida, when a Newmar comes up for trade, the dealer usually has it sold before or just after it comes on the lot. That tells me something about how the rest of the RV community sees the Newmar Brand.
Once you make the purchase, consider joining the owner's Klub. It is called the Newmar Kountry Klub. There should be literature in the coach or in the coach documentation about a special deal for new members.

Thanks for all your responses. Going from an Alpine Limited to a 29 footer makes me the most difficult purchaser to please. Having lived full-time for about 8 years together with downsizing, makes my need-to-have-stuff tough to store. 'What, no auto gen start?!!!! What, no central vac?!!!
The factory must be flexible, because as I have searched for rigs around the country and studied the options list. I find there are options installed that are not listed in the companies brochure ie. special windows, heavy duty chassis and HD wiring, etc.
I have a friend that is a Dutch Star owner and he has always sung the praises of Newmar.

If you are ordering new from the factory they are very accomodating to specials and/or options. If it's possible to do within the base design of the coach they will pretty much work with you as long as it's not unreasonable. Things like the central vac or furnishings/cabinet mods are commonly done on special orders. The only thing is like everything else you will find a cost upcharge for the one off items.

Hi lundy,
For many years, Newmar's motto has been "We mass produce in volumes of one". This says it all. If you have any difficulty getting the coach floor plan the way you want it, please let me know.
