Bay Star AGM battery replacement

Finally got around to replacing my sad batteries today. I pulled out the 168AH of wet cells and replaced with 300AH of Lifeline GPL-6CT AGM's. They fit amazingly in the existing battery bracket. This a great, simple upgrade for any of us who have this battery setup and are not satisfied with them. It took about 10 minutes.

Inspiration came from the post linked below. Thanks to @gremlin. I basically did a complete copy of his job, with the small exception of rotating one of the batteries, so the existing cross-over cable could be used.

Nice upgrade. That's making very good use of your space? Now you have true deep cycle batteries. If I could have fitted the GPL6 CT's I would have done it. 6 of them is equal to my 8. I just didn't have the head room.

That's it, for now. The converter/charger would be the next obvious step, though I wanted to monitor how this worked first. It's a 45A charger, but I never see more than 10A going into the battery anyway, so it doesn't seem that I'm actually pushing against the limits of the charger.

I might do that when my Interstates puke. Did you find a good place to buy them? Is $382 the standard price?

I think I'm going to have to replace my Lifelines in the next two weeks. Way to many weeks at repair facilities, not plugged in has killed them. Really thinking about adding a battery disconnect to the negative circuit, so I can get a true disconnect rather than the partial disconnect the Newmar panel gives you.

I was thinking of doing the 4CT batteries for my Canyon Star with the same house battery placement. Its good to see that the larger and heavier 6CTs fit. That means you have 300 available instead of 220 amp hours. Yeah I find the interstate no very good boondocking batteries.

I bought 4 of the GPL-4CT's last March for $300.00 ea
and 2 of the GPL3100T starting batteries for 303.88.
Got them from PASCO, they have 10 or so stores in
the mid-atlantic area. They beat the internet pricing !

Do you have a Magnum Energy Inverter?

If so, please check the manual. Removing the ground from the Inverter, without removing the positive lead first...may cause the Inverter to find an alternate route to ground thru the accessories such as the AGS, or BMK, and damage them. They recommend disconnecting the positive lead first.
This is the case with the MS2812 Inverter in our coach.

I throw this out...just in case yours is vulnerable in the same way.

I just bought 6 for our coach and found a guy in Texas named Mark I believe who gave us the best price.
Wish I could remember his company name.
I think we were at $360

Edit...
Centex batteries

I don't know that I got the world's most amazing price. These were $399/ea from batterystuff.com. The killer is the shipping, $150. Couldn't find a local store that could beat that, tough, including the shipping.

How about these replacement batteries, can use 90% of the amp hours and they recharge in half the time https://greenlifebattery.com/batteri...thium-ion.html

I just replaced the coach batteries in my canyon star and also added a 'Priority Start' to automatically disconnect the batteries before they discharge too far (11.7v)
