Bay Star Sport hood support

I have a 2014 Bay Star Sport and the hood support is terrible. The hood is very heavy and the rod they provide to support it open is not up to the task.
Do the upper models have gas struts to assist? Any ideas??

Thanks, Don

At least the Dutch Stars are made the same way. I didn't care for the rod and added struts. It's not a hard job, you just need to come up with the mounting points.

My 2016 bay Star Sport 2207 came with the support zip tied to the place wher the plastic clip should have been. The dealer service guys noted it and ordered me th little clip which was later sent to me( i live 3 hrs away). While I waited fro the part I clipped the zip tie hopeing to put something temperory there.
The rod dropped and pulled the other end out of a pretty flimsy mount with pretty short screws, and the whole thing fell on the ground.
I now use a 1" by 2" stick cut to legnth. Works fine and when asked about it, i tell people it came standard.
