Anyway, just pull the 6 screws holding the adjustable mount (bottom end), remove and discard the nylon washers and replace with fender washers (I used stainless), tighten the nut till there isn't much slop in the assembly but still slides easily the length of the track, then lube with some light oil (WD 40), then reinstall the mount. Now, if you lift the hatch, it comes up easily. All you have to do then to lock it in one of the three positions is put a little pressure on the support towards the notches and it will easily slide into your selection. To lower, just lift the hatch and the bolt will drop back into the slide and return to the bottom. Works MUCH better than the stock arrangement as the rigid washers don't let the bolt get cattywampus in the slot.

Thanks allot for the info and picture! I am anxious to try that on mine!! I am glad you mentioned two washers!!

I will try this idea of replacing the washers, thanks for the tip.

Hey, you wouldn't happen to remember the inner (hole) diameter of those washers would you? This way I could just just pick up parts without having to disassemble it first...
Mine were 3/8"

Went to the coach tonight to measure washer size but apparently Newmar was paying attention to lostinfla because our Bay Star came w/ steel fender washers on all the adjustable bay doors.

I still have one that gets a little cattywampus and binds when being raised. Hope a little fine tuning on the nut will take care of that.

Lowering the doors is simply a matter of releasing pressure (raise it slightly), while the weight of the washers causes the support rod to drop on its own.

Rather than oil, I lube with Elmer's Slide-All. No mess!

Looked at this today. Newmar must have figured it out because they are all metal washers on my coach. Shot some garage door lube on them and they are amazing. Just like LCDR says No tricks or methods required, they just work.

Had a look at my 2015 Bay Star Sport 2903 on sunday and they were sticking as they had since new, I got a hold of some dry lube and sprayed it into the washer and latch mechanism and presto they went up and down as if they were designed to, hit every one of them on the rig, and now they work a treat!

Ditto...... I use silicone spray. Hit them every month or so. I have replaced one set of plastic slides and bought a spare. Pick them up for a low cost from Newmar.

Had same problem. Used cardboard to protect cabinet liner and then used spray silicone on bracket. They work fine now. Silicone dries and not greasy to the touch.

I just put stainless washers on and they work so good now! I used a stainless washer that was a little larger than the plastic ones, drilled the center to make a perfect fit and they could not work better! Thanks for sharing!!

I used some silicone spray and it did help alot. But looking at the brackets on ours, they have a texture to them. Almost like a Line X liner in a pickup truck bed. It should keep them from rusting but it does not help with sliding.

Thanks everyone for all the tips. I am going to replace some of the washer this winter.

You will be much happier when you do. I again used a washer just a little bit larger on the one you can see and snugged them up lightly and left play in them. They all work really well now!!
