Baystar 3113 vs 3124 floorplans & slides

(slide mod) We are considering the 2017 32 ft versions of the Bay Star, the 3113 and the 3124.
Questions:

1. Is the long super slide on the 3124 potential trouble compared to the shorter slide on the 3113? Can we be confident about a slide that is almost as long as the entire coach?

2. Are these slides hydraulic?

3. Is the super slide on the 3124 the same depth as the super slide on the 3113? We are interested in replacing the sofa with two wall hugger recliners. Wondering if they will fit. The sofa on the 3124 hangs over the edge of the slide, where the sofa on the 3113 does not hang over the slide.

4. If the slide is too shallow to install chairs, can a plywood overlay be bolted to the floor of the slide to extend the slide a few inches?

5. Pros or cons for either floorplan?

The attached photos are chairs we installed in our existing Class A. The slide appears deeper than the slides in the Newmar. These are power electric/battery wall huggers placed two inches from the window treatment. Don't know if we could pull this off in the Newmar Bay Star. ???

Thanks for your help

Re 3124

I just purchased the 3124. It's our first motorhome and we are very pleased with this floor plan. I had the same concerns as you. The full wall slides use to be a problem in the early 2000 years. I'm pretty sure they have worked out the bugs. Never here issues about them anymore. They are used quite extensively now.
I'm positive they are electric on Newmars. You won't see hydraulic lines or pumps anywhere. I like the recliner idea. We fold the couch out some nights and use it to lay on just to watch TV.

Thanks for your response, I attached photos of the chairs we put in our existing Class A. Much deeper slide than on the Newmar, I think

I've only had my BSS since March but can say the FWS works quite well, as do the smaller slides. I have 3. Have you measured the width of your existing slide? Perhaps if we knew the numbers we could compare them for you.

The slides in my BSS and Bay Stars are electric and use cog wheels to move the slides in and out. Pretty heavy stuff.

Some experienced RVers have mentioned that they prefer the Fridge and kitchen to NOT be located in the slide. Seems that they thought it kept the weight out of the slide thus reducing possible problems. OTH, the location of the TV in the 3113 is very nice. It sure seems like this is nearly a toss up!

MadDawg, is the sofa in your 3124 a pull out bed or jack-knife? I'm thinking I want the jack-knife. Interested to hear what other people think of it.

Baystar 3113 vs 3124 floorplans & slides

We've had zero problems with the FWS (full wall slide) in our 3124.
Be aware the FWS interferes with full adjustment of the driver's seat. Can't stretch my legs out enough while driving. Missed that on the test drive.

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the responses. Got to see and measure a 3113 and 3124 today.

The slide in the 3113 is 24 inches and includes the kitchen in the slide.

The 3124 slide does not have the kitchen and is more than 30 inches deep with plenty of room for the chairs.

Problem is the 3124 has a much smaller bathroom than we prefer and the strange little pivoting bathroom door for opening when the slide is in.

We prefer the 3113 larger dining room and bathroom, despite the smaller kitchen. The shallow slide goes over the 'hump' to facilitate movement of the kitchen. We need to find out if we can apply an overlay floor under where the couch is, to extend the slide depth.

Sigh, decisions, decisions. Note, we have not bought yet, still weighing the trade offs between the two.

I did not like that wait her. The seat adjusts a lot of ways. I will make slight adjustments I angle. Getting use to the seat being a little closer. I try to sit up straighter so I can meet ve the seat back more.

Re: Leg Room

My husband is about 6'1". We were worried and went back to check the leg room on both the 3113 and the 3124. He was satisfied with the adjustments on the power seats. He was able to tilt. I am tall and heavy. Tried it out and felt it would be ok for me. One thing when all else might fail is to position the back a little more upright. Didn't seem to be an issue for us, but definitely a good idea to check it out.

Keep us posted on your model decision and your travels. Let us know what you like and don't like on the 3113.

It jack knifes out. I lay on it and watch TV. I could sleep on it. A lot more comfortable than you would think.
